In this conference we explore how our freshwaters will be affected by the “Green Shift”, or bioeconomy (the transformation from fossil fuel to bioeconomy, with its demand on biomass). BIOWATER has studied how land use and therefore water quality may change as a result of land use and climate change.

We will present research results and discuss the following topics:
- Scenarios on how Nordic land use may change under a bioeconomy, due to increased biomass use.
- Future nutrient status in Nordic rivers, based on modelling of changes in land use and climate.
- Consequences for ecological status and ecosystem services, and thereby our well-being.
- Mitigation measures that can reduce impacts and improve the sustainability of a bioeconomy.
Target sectors: Agriculture, forestry, water and environment, and related industries. We welcome managers, NGOs, sector organisations, industry representatives, scientists and any other interested stakeholders!
